Groundworks’ new Drop-In Center opened for 24-Hour Shelter on August 16, 2021
In an effort to provide overnight shelter for a number of individuals currently living outdoors in the Brattleboro area, we plan to open the new Drop-In Center for 24-hour shelter, seven days a week, starting Monday, August 16th.
The new South Main Street Drop-In Center can provide shelter for up to 34 people per night. The program (formerly known as the Seasonal Overflow Shelter or “SOS”) will launch with the hope that funding will allow the shelter to remain open for overnights year-round.
Our new Groundworks Drop-In Center is Open!
The new Groundworks Collaborative facility at 54 S. Main St. is opening this week, giving clients facing housing insecurity a break from the heat and access to vital services.
“We want to embody our tagline, which is ‘Basic needs met with dignity,” Josh Davis, executive director of Groundworks Collaborative, said Tuesday during a tour of the site.
He described the building being constructed for durability and to have “a very welcoming feel.”

Groundworks’ Amazon Wish List for Camping Gear
Many thanks to Kelly Pedersen and Anne Bagasao, who created this Amazon Wish List to help us gather items needed to support our neighbors who have no option but to camp when the shelters and motel program are full (as is often the case). If you are able, please consider checking out this wish list and purchasing one or more items to help us meet the basic needs of our neighbors who are camping out of necessity.

These permanent supportive housing communities are built on a model that is proven to end homelessness.
