Meet Amanda, Our Permanent Supportive Housing Client Service Lead

At the core of our Permanent Supportive Housing program, Amanda stands as a beacon of hope and compassion, dedicated to transforming lives one connection at a time. Based at the Chalet in West Brattleboro, she brings a deeply empathetic approach shaped by personal experiences to her role.

The Permanent Supportive Housing model relies on three elements that make Housing First work for people exiting homelessness into permanent housing with a lease:  1. An available apartment (provided in this partnership by Windham & Windsor Housing Trust, owners of The Chalet); 2. A voucher that helps bridge the difference between the cost of rent and what the tenant can afford to pay; and 3. Supportive services like those Amanda offers to the residents she works with daily.

Amanda’s work transcends traditional case management. She focuses on building genuine relationships, understanding each client’s unique passions, and providing tools for independence. From organizing chair yoga for residents with mobility challenges to hosting chili cook-offs and celebrating birthdays, Amanda creates community-building opportunities that help clients connect and thrive.

The Permanent Supportive Housing program offers more than just a home —it provides a transformative pathway to rebuilding lives and strengthening our entire community. By offering comprehensive support, resources, and a nurturing environment, supportive service staff like Amanda help residents to break cycles of instability and develop critical life skills. Amanda helps residents navigate benefits, ensure timely rental payments, seek treatment for mental health or substance use challenges, and always offers a compassionate ear.

The program aims to help individuals maintain stable housing for better overall outcomes. By addressing underlying challenges and fostering independence, these supportive services create positive ripple effects that extend far beyond the Chalet, empowering individuals to become active community members.
