Designed as a welcoming neighborhood grocery store at 141 Canal Street, Foodworks eliminates stigma while ensuring food security for thousands of residents. The program serves over 5,000 individuals annually, including more than 1,200 children, through more than 12,000 yearly transactions combining both in-store shopping and home deliveries. Currently supporting 1,935 households, Foodworks consistently welcomes 60-100 new households monthly, offering special shopping days for seniors and focusing on culturally appropriate food options. Beyond addressing immediate food insecurity, the program creates environmental benefits by rescuing and redistributing over $500,000 worth of food annually before it goes to waste.
